SJE103J1 Watch KING SEIKO Automatic 3-hand watch
Description of the watch
The KING SEIKO SJE103J1 combines a flat dial with faceted indices and ‘Diamond Cut’ hands to precisely echo the essential design features of the original from the 1960s. The new, slimmer design picks up on the original, sharp and angular KSK design with wide horns and shiny fittings. This model is fitted with the high-quality 6L35 calibre.
The colour and pattern of the plum red ‘Garyu-bai’ dial of this watch is inspired by the birthplace of the first King Seiko in Kameido, Tokyo, which is famous for its plum orchards. The ‘Garyu-bai’ was the most popular of all plum trees and was so named because of its shape, which resembles a dragon lying on the ground. This tree inspired the Ukiyoe artist Utagawa Hiroshige to create one of his last masterpieces: ‘Plum Garden in Kameido’, which was later reproduced by Van Gogh in the famous ‘Japonaiserie’: Plum Blossom’
