MEN'S AUTOMATIC WATCHES MADE IN JAPAN
For over a century, Seiko has been developing and refining its expertise in mechanical watchmaking. The brand continues to highlight the Presage line, an entirely mechanical collection drawing on all the experience of the watchmaking brand. Available worldwide as of 2016, Presage is our flagship collection of mechanical watches and has quickly become a hit with enthusiasts of fine watchmaking. Seiko Presage watches are equipped with precise and reliable manufactured calibres and are clearly distinguishable at first glance.
In the Presage collection you will find automatic watches with a variety of functions. First of all, the three-hand watches with date display in a window offer the most refined style and allow the colour of the dial to be fully expressed. The collection also includes multi-hand automatic watches with date and power reserve displays on the counters.
The Presage collection: dials are given special attention
True to the Japanese culture's unique commitment to beauty and tradition, the Presage collection provides classic watches but with a finely tuned aesthetic. To achieve this, careful work on the dials is an essential element, involving a variety of craft techniques. Seiko's watchmaking teams include master enamellers and lacquerers.
This traditional Japanese know-how makes it possible to handcraft superb automatic watches with white or blue enamel dials or covered with Urushi lacquer. In 2019, the Presage collection even includes watches with porcelain dials from Arita, a Japanese port city famous for its porcelain.
Seiko Presage “Cocktail” watches
Since the creation of the collection, certain timepieces have stood out from the rest. These are the Presage "Cocktail" watches, automatic watches that are mainly characterised by their dial. Recalling the warmth and sense of sophistication inspired by cocktail bars, the colours of the dials take inspiration from the most iconic cocktails.
The sunray dials of Presage watches, for example, feature the dark Cranberry colour of the "Black Cat Martini" or the sky blue of the "Skydiving" cocktail. The sunburst effect on the dial is achieved by applying 7 layers of varnish. The hands that dance around these dials are slim, enhancing the overall elegance of the pieces. Finally, the Seiko Presage "Cocktail" are equipped with slightly larger crowns than the others, further aiding time setting and manual winding.
